FAQ

Why study Latin?

In many parts of the world, Latin is all around us, used in mottos, inscriptions, and as the root of roughly half of all English words. Knowledge of Latin gives us insight into a rich European literary and scientific tradition informed by Roman culture, and offers us a glimpse into the mindset of ancient writers themselves.

In addition, as Latin is the direct ancestor of all Romance languages, learners of these will find their knowledge and vocabulary boosted by their knowledge of Latin. With its fascinating grammar, Latin learning cultivates one's ability to learn any language, as well as keen attention to detail and problem solving skills.
